Fall FactSheet No. 16 & Compact Action

October 12th, 2009

The Columbia River Compact convened by teleconference on Monday, October 12 at 3:00 p.m. to consider ongoing commercial fisheries in the late fall time period. Fall Fact Sheet No. 16 concerns non-Indian commercial fisheries. At the actual Compact hearing itself, Treaty Tribal fisheries were added to the hearing in the sense that the tribes had decided to close commercial sales from platform hook-and-line fisheries as of the end of day on Thursday, October 15. This topic was added to the agenda, rather than calling a separate Compact hearing.

Fall Fact Sheet No. 16 is appended as a PDF file, with correction of a typo with respect to minimum mesh size for Season # 2, as noted during the Compact teleconference. (The 12-hour daylight fishery on Wednesday, October 14 is a sturgeon-directed fishery with 9-inch minimum mesh size.) The subsequent Compact Action Notice concerning non-Indian commercial fisheries is now posted, as well as the Treaty Tribal Action Notice.
