Fall FactSheet No. 6 & Compact Action

The Columbia River Compact convened by teleconference at 11:00 a.m Monday, August 24, 2009 to review ongoing August commercial gilnet fisheries. Fall FactSheet No. 6 and the subsequent Compact Action Notice are appended as PDF files. The previously scheduled 10-hour openers beginning at 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 25 and Thursday, August 27 have been restricted to Zone 5 only, from Rooster Rock up to Beacon Rock. In addition, sturgeon retention has been lowered to 3 white sturgeon per vessel per week.

    Could you please include descriptions(easy & clear) of the Columbia River gillnet fishery zones on your site in the near future. The ODFW descriptions are difficult to decifer, and the Washington Depts aren’t any better, plus there is a conflict in regard to zone 5 as to how many miles below Bonneville Dam is correct. HELP!
