The Columbia River Compact convened by teleconference at 2:00 and 3:00 p.m. Thursday, July 8, 2011 to consider recreational sturgeon fisheries above Bonneville Dam, and Treaty Tribal fisheries during the summer management season, respectively. The US v. Oregon Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) met on Tuesday, July 5 to update run -size estimates for summer Chinook, sockeye, and summer steelhead. The upriver summer Chinook run size was downgraded from 91,100 to 77,000. The sockeye and steelhead estimates remained the same as the preseason forecasts.

The Joint Management Staff recommended that the non-Indian recreational fishery be closed to further sturgeon retention above Bonneville Dam  at 12:01 a.m. Saturday, July 9.  Additional fishing time was set  for Treaty Tribal fisheries in Zone 6, and modified for the platform hook-and-line fishery below Bonneville Dam.
