Response to CCA on Summer Chinook

On Sunday, May 16, 2010, the Columbian newspaper in Vancouver, Washington published an op-ed piece by Bryan Irwin, Northwest regional executive director of the Coastal Conservation Association (CCA) on the mark-selective recreational fishery for upriver summer Chinook, which is scheduled to begin on June 16, 2010. Mr. Irwin asserted that instituting a mark-selective fishery for summer Chinook was quite beneficial and one more good reason to ban the “non-selective” commercial gillnet fishery of the lower Columbia River.
