Test fishing for spring Chinook was conducted Sunday, March 7, 2010, followed by a Columbia River Compact teleconference on Monday, March 8, 2010. Too many steelhead per Chinook were caught in the test fishery to set a commercial mainstem spring Chinook opener at this time: 11 drifts, 2 Chinook, and 16 steelhead.
Winter Fact Sheet No. 6 is appended as a PDF file. The subsequent Compact Action Notice confirms the Joint Management Staff’s decision to close the Columbia River mainstem smelt fishery.
