SYSCO Spring Evening Race Series

Our copy of the Oregon Corinthian Sailing Association 2010 Sail Race Book arrived recently, along with the 2010 OCSA Chart of Numerical Courses and Windward & Leeward Courses. Readers may recall we had some unanticipated schedule conflicts with sail races during last year’s spring Chinook season. Knowing the race schedules ahead of time allows us to be informed as we head into spring season.
The Small Yacht Sailing Club of Oregon (SYSCO) schedules a Spring Evening Series on Tuesday and Thursday evenings using the OCSA Courses beween the I-5 and I-205 bridges in the Portland/Vancouver region. The series begins Tuesday April 20 and ends Thursday May 27. The First Warning Signal is at 1830 (6:30 p.m.) and all races are over by dusk.
The 2010 OCSA Chart of Numerical Courses and Windward & Leeward Courses are appended as a PDF file. Note that the courses are dependent on which direction the wind is blowing on the evening of the race. For those on dial up, at 2.59 MB, the file size for scan of the charts is quite large.
