March 14, 2010 Test Fishing Results
March 15th, 2010
Today was the day of the first big North of Falcon meeting on Columbia River fisheries in Vancouver, Washington, which is probably why no Compact teleconference was scheduled. The fishery managers were engaged in face-to-face meetings with fishermen from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Compact, if in fact one was even held, would have been done on the spot, not by teleconference.
Even so, people are wondering what is going on. The test fishing results from Sunday, March 14, 2010 will tell you everything you need to know about whether there will be mainstem fishing time set for Tuesday March 16. In a word, “No.” A total of 16 drifts were made: 6 spring Chinook were caught, 5 lower river and 1 upriver, all marked by an adipose fin-clip; but 17 steelhead were caught, too. The ratio of spring Chinook to steelhead is improving, but there are still 3 steelhead for every 1 Chinook . (Last week the ratio was 8 to 1.)
Test fishing results are appended as a PDF file.

Wondering what the test fishing results were. Also what are the hotline numbers? I can’t seem to find them on any action notices. Thank You.

I actually replied to Bart Oja personally by email some time ago, but since WordPress recently gave me a reminder, I’ll add my remarks here as well:
Bart,
I see you haven’t been on the Salmon For All email distribution list, which I just rectified. I distribute the test fising results by email, but see no reason they couldn’t be posted on the website as well. I’ll post them under the heading Resources.
[The following paragraph concerned the Compact results, which are very old news at this point. We waited until the week following.]
The Salmon For All hotline died when our provider stopped offering the service. Doing it through Qwest was prohibitively expensive. Fact Sheets and Compact Action Notices are now posted on the Salmon For All website under the heading Compact Action Notices.
