Compact Action Modifies Smelt Fishery
February 4th, 2010
The Columbia River Compact convened by teleconference at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, February 4, 2010 to consider changes to the area open to commercial fishing for smelt. The smelt fishery is being managed as a Level One fishery again this year, due to concerns over scarcity of the resource.
The following Compact Action Notice modifies the commercial smelt fishery by specifically excluding Deep River, and the lower reaches of Grays River and Elochoman River from the area open to fishing. No Fact Sheet was distributed for this Compact teleconference.
